Default Scope
Have one of the early SS10X42 models that has accounted for an awful lot of prairie dogs and a few thousand rounds of .223 Rem on the first gun. Later it got stuck on a .308 Win for another 1500-2000 rds, and I used it to win the 2005 Findlay Cup match. Around then I got a SS16X42 that has been my default scope for clamping on my sling-n-irons guns for load testing or the occasional Any/Any match. It survived being in the trunk of a car that was totaled in a collision on the way home from a match in 2006. Scope was mounted on a 6.5-08 match rifle in a soft case; collision was to the front end of the car but still... it wasn't much fun anywhere in that vehicle, trust me. Later took the gun to the range and had to re-zero it, but still works fine to this day. It’s the one I use as a 'control' when testing a new high dollar scope - if the gun starts shooting weird, inconsistent, or just unusually larger than normal groups, and nothing else is found (i.e. nothing loose on the gun, ammo prep checks out, etc.) I pull the fancy scope and stick the SS16x42 on there to see if it’s the scope. More than once it has been. The SS10x42 is currently on my step-son's rifle. Being he's a Marine, it’s about the only thing of mine I was reasonably certain he couldn't (easily) break.... More

Killer scope
This is the premier setup for the custom Savage .308 tactical I own. Took a coyote in the head @ 450 yards and really impressed the guy with the 22-250 that said ”you will never hit that” and when I took its head damn near off he about sh!t! With a good rest and an extra heavy barrel (this rifle weighs in @ 16 pounds) the SS 16x makes the complete package.... More

I've been very happy with my scope and have friends who have bought them too after using mine. I also have a friend who is very unhappy with his scope of another brand that cost 4x as much, but I've never met anyone who was unhappy with their SS.
I would be very interested in another reticle design or two. I really wish I could get this scope will a mil line reticle but for now, I'm happy with the mil-dots.
I have achieved groups at 100 yards that were under 1/4 inch and have no problem hitting an 8” plate at 500 yds. I've even taken a few milk jugs at 948 yrds with my .308!
I've looked at other scopes but I think I'm addicted to getting a top notch scope for less than I'll be spending in ammo this year.

Great optics
I bought this scope for a varmint rifle but I've been moving it from rifle to rifle and now I just have to break down and get another one I think. I have two expensive Leupolds sitting on my shelf now that I need to sell or something. These are without a doubt the best turrets I've found. I put it through the box test and it was perfect! Back to zero every time. This is a GREAT scope.

Well I cautiously purchased one of these 5 or 6 years ago and was shocked. I have since purchased two others and have not been let down, I have not had one issue. I believe I never will. I have used these on heavy recoilers and light recoilers. I have one on a 22lr supressed that I shoot 60gr bullets out of a 1:8 twist rifle out to 200-250yards. I have to use the full range of MOA or close to it the most of any scope I have and everytime I dial 60-72" I am right where I need to be everytime. I only have one thing to say negative, the 16x is not as clear or bright as the 10x this is due to the nature of the beast...If you need the higher magnification as I prefer this is the qay to go. I prefer 16x due my own personal preference of sight picture at 1000yrds and beyond. SWFA has done it again...... More
